We regularly conduct literature searches on the synergy between reproductive agency—the ability to decide whether, when, and with whom to have children—and environmental sustainability, in order to track how research on these issues is evolving.
This search extends and updates the 2016 Family Planning and Environmental Sustainability Assessment (FPESA), which examined whether voluntary family planning promoted environmental sustainability, and is available here: https://fpearth.org/fpesa-report.
This list of results was updated in July 2024, and contains 170 entries exploring the connections between reproductive agency, demographic trends and environmental sustainability,
Our search protocol is available here.
